WordPress Speed Optimisation
We profile first and quote second, because the fix is rarely the plugin somebody sold you.

Speed work goes wrong when it starts with a solution. A caching plugin gets installed, the lab score jumps, and real users see no change because the actual bottleneck was an unindexed query or a render-blocking third-party tag that only fires for logged-out traffic.
We start with measurement: field data from the Chrome UX Report for what real users experience, server-side profiling to find slow queries and expensive hooks, and a request waterfall to identify what is actually blocking the largest contentful paint.
Then we fix the specific thing. That might be query and index work, object caching, deferring or removing third-party scripts, correcting image delivery and sizing, eliminating layout shift from late-loading fonts and embeds, or breaking up long tasks that wreck interaction responsiveness.
What the engagement includes
Field and lab measurement
Chrome UX Report field data plus lab traces, so we optimise what users experience rather than what a synthetic test reports.
Server-side profiling
Slow query logs, hook profiling and object-cache analysis to find work that should not happen per request.
LCP, INP and CLS work
Image delivery, critical CSS, font loading, long-task breakup and layout-shift elimination.
Third-party script audit
What each tag costs you, and what happens if it is deferred or removed.
Before and after report
Measured under the same conditions, with field data to back it.
What you receive
Every engagement ends with artefacts you own, not a login to something we control.
- Performance audit with prioritised findings
- Implemented fixes in your repository
- Before and after Core Web Vitals comparison
- Caching and delivery configuration
- Guidance on keeping the gains
Speed Optimisation: common questions
Can you guarantee a perfect Lighthouse score?
No, and anyone who does is optimising for the test. Lighthouse is a lab simulation. We target Core Web Vitals thresholds on real field data, which is what search actually uses and what your users actually feel.
Will this break our analytics or ad tags?
Not without your agreement. We report what each third-party tag costs in load time and let you decide. Most gains come from changing how tags load rather than removing them.
Is this one-off or ongoing?
The audit and fixes are one-off. Keeping the gains needs a performance budget and monitoring, which is part of our maintenance retainer if you want it held in place.
